Judge John M. Rollins Jr., is a 1984 graduate of the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg with a B.S. in Psychology, and a 1988 graduate of the Cumberland School of Law, Birmingham, Alabama.  He served in the SC Army National Guard with the 1st Bn 178th  Field Artillery from 1981-1998, and in the US Army Reserve as a Judge Advocate General from 1998-2002.  He retired in 2002 with the rank of Major. He served as a Contract Public Defender for Greenville County SC from 1990-2000.  He is a Death Penalty Lead Counsel Certified Attorney.  He served as a Spartanburg County SC Magistrate from 2001-2010. He has served as a  Municipal Court Judge in multiple jurisdictions for over 26 years.

The Municipal Judge holds court each Monday and Thursday throughout the year, in addition to the scheduling of Municipal Court or individual trials, or both, at his discretion.  The Municipal Judge disposes of approximately 2,000 cases per year.  He also sets bond for cases brought to Municipal Court and those sent to General Sessions court.

This department consists of two (2) employees:  a Municipal Judge and a Part-Time Bailiff.
