The City of Union currently has a vacancy for the position of a licensed Biological Wastewater Treatment Operator. This position involves laboratory, technical, maintenance, and grounds keeping work in the operation of a biological wastewater treatment facility. Applicants must be able to perform a variety of tasks and be willing to work in a team environment.  Must be able to obtain an “A” biological wastewater treatment license within the required time frame which will be dependent on current certification level.
 
Preferred requirements include a high school diploma with vocational/ technical training in the field of wastewater treatment operations, or any equivalent combination of education and training. Must have a valid S.C. driver’s license (CDL preferred).

Job Opportunity

The City of Union currently has a vacancy for the position of a Fleet Mechanic II in the Vehicle Maintenance Division. Under general supervision is responsible for diagnostic, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of makes and models of passenger automobiles, trucks, computerized engine controls, heavy road building equipment, and air compressors. Provides lead supervision to Fleet Mechanic I. Reports to the Fleet Maintenance Director.  Perform other duties as required. 

High school diploma or GED required, with vocational or technical training in automotive repair or a related field; supplemented by five years of experience in automotive repair; experience in repairing and maintaining heavy equipment is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.  Must have a valid S.C. driver’s license.  (preferably CDL)

The City of Union is currently seeking an Electric Lineman III in the Electrical Division.  This position performs skilled journeyman level work in all phases of building and maintenance overhead and underground electrical service for the City system.   Must have a valid S.C. Driver’s License (CDL preferred).

Job Opportunity

The City of Union is currently seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator.  Under general supervision, operates the water treatment plant, monitoring water daily in order to ensure safe, clean water for public use.  Operates electrical and mechanical process equipment; performs electrical and mechanical repair and maintenance duties.   Also performs general plant cleaning, painting, ground maintenance, and other related duties as required.

Position requires a high school diploma, a valid minimum “D” SC Water Treatment Certification, and two years’ experience in operating a water filtration plant; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must obtain a “C” SC Water Treatment Certification within one (1) year of employment. A SC Water Treatment “C” or greater certification is preferred.  Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Subject to pre-employment physical, DOT drug screens and all other applicable background checks.

The City of Union Water Treatment Plant operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  The operator position works an eight-hour day, forty-hour work week.
