Christmas at Rose Hill Plantation

12/7/2019 - 12/8/2019

1:00 PM -4:00 PM

Travel back in time with a Victorian-style Christmas at Rose Hill Plantation, former home of Gov. William Henry Gist and his family. What holiday customs were practiced in the 1800s? Find out how the Gist family would have celebrated Christmas. Christmas was also an important holiday for the enslaved people on the plantation. What were their traditions? Special tours of the mansion will be offered and visitors can partake of hot drinks and homemade goodies in the plantation kitchen. Warm your hands by the fire and craft your own Victorian decoration to take home with you! Tours will begin each day at 1pm and run on the half hour through 4 pm. On Sunday there will be a special appearance by Father Christmas. Bring the whole family out to enjoy.  Meet in the kitchen building behind the mansion.  The prices are:  $7.50 per participant (age 6 & older) or free with Park Passport Plus.
