The City of Union currently has a vacancy for the position of a licensed Biological Wastewater Treatment Operator. This position involves laboratory, technical, maintenance, and groundskeeping work in the operation of a biological wastewater treatment facility. Applicants must be able to perform a variety of tasks and be willing to work in a team environment. Must be able to obtain an “A” biological wastewater treatment license within the required time frame which will be dependent on current certification level.
Preferred requirements include a high school diploma with vocational/ technical training in the field of wastewater treatment operations, or any equivalent combination of education and training. Must have a valid S.C. driver’s license (CDL preferred).

Under general supervision, performs semi-skilled electrical, water and sewer, maintenance repair and connection duties for the City. Is responsible for performing preventive maintenance activities on equipment, vehicles and machinery used by the department. Reports to the Wastewater Supervisor. Must be able to obtain an “A” Wastewater Certification License. Performs other related duties as required.

The City of Union has two (2) positions open on the Building Appeals Board for expired terms. These positions are for four-year terms to expire December 31, 2027. These positions are appointed by the Mayor and City Council.
The Building Appeals Board works closely with the City of Union Planning Department. This board hears and makes decisions on appeals dealing with the City of Union Code of Ordinances, International Building Codes and Building Inspector.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one to two years experience as a heavy equipment operator, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Must have a valid S.C. driver’s license and the ability to obtain a commercial driver’s license.
